Greencrest was officially founded in 1958 by a group of guys that worked together at Commodity Credit Corp. however some of the co-workers at CCC would play occasionally at City Park together prior to the founding of the club from 1954-1958. It is believed Bill Wilkinson might have been the driving force in creating Greencrest with Carroll Boudreaux & Carlos Piper. Early known members of the club also included ET Monson, Dickie Pigeon, Paul Zinser, Robert Ural, Tony Imbraguglio, Ernie Cunningham, Ed McManus, Jim Cazabat & Joe Yaeger.

Greencrest broke up around 1961 and restarted back up again around 1963 where they played at City Park East Course until Hurricane Katrina.

Relocated to now closed Bayou Barriere Golf Course after Hurricane Katrina---Carlos Piper, a former club President was instrumental in keeping the club running after Hurricane Katrina.

Chuck Henry, a former club President moved club back to City Park when North Course reopened after storm. (Per Wikipedia, North Course reopened in 2009).

After years of our members complaining,  of deteriorating conditions and playing non - official par 67 golf course , Bruce Clause scheduled a meeting and met with the management of the newly renovated Joseph Bartholomew golf course. Negotiations were successful and a vote to relocate Greencrest to Pontchartrain Park was held and approved by the members to move the club. Greencrest played its first official round on March 16 , 2013 and to this day plays every Saturday morning with a 7:00am shotgun start and is one of six major golf clubs contributing to the success of Pontchartrain Park.
