In early May of 1965 Sheldon Gebbs and three of his best friends AJ Dewhirst , Les Benson & Ralph Persica , gathered in Sheldon's backyard to discuss forming a golf club that would play one Sunday a month , 12 Months a year.
Their first task was a name. As they looked around under the tree , they came up with "Shadow Lawn".
On May 13th 1965 Shadow Lawn Golf & Social Club was born with the purpose ,"to provide good fellowship through golf".
58 years later Shadow Lawn is stronger than ever with 87 members stretching from Gulfport, Mississippi to Cut Off Louisiana playing a October through September golf year that ends with a banquet in September with members and their wives.
In 2019 all 4 founders retired from Shadow Lawn and their golf game, and a board was elected to continue the club.
Members pay $50.00 annual dues , have a established handicap , a organized monthly game with award money to the winners and “Good fellowship through golf".
